When you were my age?

Lately William has been asking about what Andy and I did when we were kids. Here is one particularly funny convo.

William: "Mom did you have a DSI when you were my age?"
Me: "Nope but I did get a Nintendo for Christmas."
William: "What's a Nintendo?"
Me: (rolling my eyes) "Sort of like a Wii, just 20 years ago."
William: "Oh, I bet you didn't have Sonic."
Me: "Nope, just Mario, Luigi, Donkey Kong, and Zelda"
William: "Well that's just sad."
Me: "No its sad that you can't just have fun playing outside on your bike or hide and go seek!"
William: "You're crazy."

Interview with my 8 year old

What did you have for breakfast today? Applejacks, but waffles with peanut butter is my favorite breakfast, you need to buy some more waffles.
What is your favorite TV show? Avatar, the last Airbender
What is your middle name? Russell
What is your favorite food? Pizza, Chili Mac, and Apple Jacks
What food(s) do you dislike? Anything too spicy, fish and Hawaiian Pizza
Favorite color? Red
Favorite lunch? Sandwiches.
Favorite thing to do? Be silly and play with friends
If you could go anywhere on vacation where would it be? Disneyworld, and then probably Asia
Favorite Sport? Basketball and fishing, wait is fishing a sport?
Are you a morning or a night person? All day
Any new and exciting news you would like to share? No, well we got Cho.
What do you want to be when you grow up? You know that, I want to be an inventor.
What is your favorite candy? Hershey's Hugs
Furthest you've ever been from home? When we were in Disneyland I think.
Favorite book? Did dinosaurs babysit.
Favorite movie? Transformers 3
What are you most proud of? That we have a house, even though its so small and doesn't have any stairs, at least we have a house.

Just Kidding

I was singing at the top of my lungs to "You Can't Touch This", yes the song by MC Hammer, in the car this morning, hey is it MY fault if its on the radio? I think not. Then I hear William say, "Mom, you should try out for American Idol." I started laughing and then he said, "I'm just kidding."

I tripped

Okay he totally got grounded for this, but I think its hilarious.... I had to fight back the laughter when I was getting mad at him....
William: "Matthew I'm a vampire and I'm going to suck your blood" (menacing laugh)
Matthew: "No I will fight you because I'm a Jedi."
Then the sound of the two of them slap fighting... Then Matthew screaming bloody murder..
Me: "WILL GET IN HERE!"
William: "I tripped and accidently bit Matthew and made him scream."

So he got in trouble for 1. He knows better than to BITE, seriously and 2. He lied, I heard what happened. Not okay to lie....

The HILARIOUS things my boys said while in Disneyland...

My sister's boyfriend has a tattoo that takes up most of the lower part of one of his legs, when Matthew saw it the following conversation happened:
Matthew: "What is that Austin?"
Austin: "Its pen."
William: "Oh, it will probably wash off when we go swimming in the pool."
Austin: "No its special pen that you have to get lasered off."
Hailey: "I'm the one that drew on him, I did a good job, do you want me to draw on your leg Matty?"
Me: "But its a special pen that makes you bleed."
Matthew: "Oh okay Nee Nee, draw on my leg."

Hailey came to our room, and Matthew said, "Where Austin go? He go home?" Anytime he couldn't immediately see Austin he would ask where he went.

William and Andy were walking with each other and Will said: "Why do we have to wear socks with our shoes."
Andy: "You have to wear socks so your feet don't stink."
William: "Feet are supposed to stink!"
Andy said a lady behind them was cracking up!

Hailey was talking about taking drinks to Disneyland and Matthew said, "Sprite makes you think."

We went to dinner at the end of our first night and Matthew was sitting by me and he took one bite of his mini corndogs, said he was all done and then the next thing I noticed was that he was asleep on my arm.
The second night we watched the World of Color show, both boys LOVED it, but about half way through I looked around to see where Matthew was, and he was sleeping in the stroller.

There is a huge ferris wheel in California Adventure that has Mickey on it, they have cages that move and some that don't, we decided to be adventurous and ride the moving one, I think it was a bad idea.  William was sitting by Hailey and they were on the side that they could see out of the wheel as opposed to where Andy and I were and could see the inside of the wheel. Hailey kept screaming and laughing and William started crying.  We traded spots and I could see why they were scared.  Matthew keeps talking about "Mickey's Fun Wheel" and how it was so scary.

Then William said, "Is everything at Disneyland meant to scare you?"

We were leaving the park and there are buses that take people to the different parking lots and there was a bus with Toy Story characters all over it and Matthew said, "I want my own bus, a Toy Story one!"

While waiting for World of Color to start William said, "I'm going to invent a stroller that can turn into a bench."

William got picked to do Jedi training, he decided he wanted to make his own light saber as his Disneyland souvenir. Then he said, "We should get light sabers for everyone in the family, even a mini one for Andrew so we can all battle each other."

When we got back to the hotel one night William said, "My feet can only work one hour a day."

William also got a Mickey Mouse watch and he kept telling all of us what time it was,  then when we were waiting for fireworks he said, "I'm going to invent a watch that glows."
Me: "They already have those."
Will: "Well mine will have a button that makes it glow."
Me: "They already have those."
Will: "Well my button will be glowy."

Matthew asked Will if his brain was broken and Will said no my brain is big, huge even.

On the way home we got beef jerky and Matthew ate some and said, "My brain turned on fire through my mouth!"

I think you said magma

Will: "Mom what elementary school did you go to?"
Me: "Magna Elementary."
Will: "Magnet Elementary? Did they have lots of magnets?"
Me: "No, I said Magna."
Will: "Magma?"
Me: "No, MagNA."
Will: "I think you said magMA."

"I'll never ask for anything ever again..."

I heard that TWICE today, and yet I still gave in.  Then he says, "Mom, if you and dad get me a dog, I really never will ask for anything ever again, I just want a dog more than anything in this world." - William

Snacks

The other day we were talking about going to Disneyland and that we are driving there.  William got a very thoughtful look on his face and suddenly said, "If we're going to drive to Disneyland, we better have a lot of snacks because its a long way away."

Music gadget

Yesterday at grandma's funeral when we went to the cemetery there was another burial happening very close to us and they had someone playing the bagpipes. It was LOUD, luckily they stopped playing long enough for us to dedicate the grave. When we were leaving the bagpipes resumed and William said. "I think bagpipes are maybe a music gadget from back in the old times."

Question?

"Mom if magic was real would you let me play Quidditch?" William asks me tonight.  I say, "Yes, of course." He replies, "Good because I would want to be a Beater!"

I have a secret power

William just told me that he has a secret power that he can turn on electronics just by walking by them... Andy turned on the computer and it takes a while to power up and make noise, that's why he thinks that, I love him!

I don't know if its funny or not....

Today I was talking to William about my mom getting married again, he said, "Oh you mean she's getting re-married, because when your dad died its like she got a divorce." I explained that she didn't divorce him and what not. Then he asked me how my dad died, and I told him he took too many pills.  He replied, "Taking too many pills is like eating too much pizza, because it makes you really full and can make you sick." I told him that he couldn't die from eating too much pizza, he said, well it will make you really sick to your stomach. I just agreed and dropped it after that.... Oh how his mind works...

"Ah I thought..."

Today while doing his homework William asked Andy a question about it and Andy didn't know and William replied with, "Ah I thought parents would know this."  Ha ha, he's hilarious!

What are you talking about?

Today we decided to watch Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets and when it started Will says, "I think I look like Harry Potter." I said no, not really.  He replies, "What are you talking about? We look exactly alike, we could be twins!" I love this kid!!
